General Information
This will be a 5 round Swiss tournament to be held on the following dates:
Round 1 – Wednesday 31st May 2023
Round 2 – Wednesday 7th June 2023
Round 3 – Wednesday 14th June 2023
Round 4 – Wednesday 21st June 2023
Round 5 – Wednesday 28th June 2023
Each round will start at 19:30. Any player that doesn’t turn up within 30 minutes of the start time will be defaulted and their opponent will be awarded a full point. Players may agree to play on a different night or at a different time so long as the game is completed before midnight on the Saturday before the next round. Players should let Zane know if they plan to do this.
The time control will be 1 hour for all the moves with a 10 second increment every move from move 1. The result of each game will be sent to the Gwent grading officer for rating. So, games must be recorded. Once a player gets down to less than 5 minutes left on the clock they may stop recording if they feel they can’t do so quickly enough.
The draw for each round will be published no later than midnight on the Sunday before the round, except for round 1 which will be published by midday on Monday 29th May. If players cannot make any round, apart from the last round, they may request a 0.5 point bye but this should be asked for as soon as possible, and no later than midnight on the Saturday before the round.
